about stella

Based in Glasgow and working all over the UK, Stella enjoys delivering a diverse professional portfolio of music therapy sessions, arts therapy supervision, consultancy services, research and evaluation, higher education lecturing, and independent academic scholarship.

Stella qualified as a music therapist in 2021 and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. She has delivered music therapy and community music projects in mainstream and specialist education provision, dementia and elderly care settings, psychiatric hospitals, with learning disabled adults, and with victims of human trafficking.

Stella came into music therapy through a desire to put her musicianship at the service of people who would benefit from social, companionable experiences of music-making. She is regarded for her high-level versatile musicianship, clear communication, and her ability to bring critical perspectives on health and systemic barriers into flexible and dynamic musical engagement.

Stella is currently undertaking doctoral research at Nordoff and Robbins/Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research questions established narratives around referral in music therapy and explores the practices and processes of how music therapy truly ‘gets going’. Stella also serves as Co-Chair of the Scottish Music Therapy Trust and as an Editor of the journal Music and Arts in Action.

If you’re looking for a high-energy practitioner and researcher with a wealth of experience, sharp perception, and arts-based critical skills, reach out to Stella today.

“When I watch the children attending their session, I am in awe of their love for it and watch them benefit from attending.

My son also attended and this developed his communication and interaction.
I feel it really benefited him and can't wait for him to attend again.”
